There are lots of good ways to approach a teaching task. The point of this series of posts is not to give you “the answer” but to show you different ways work through the task.
Technical or tactical focus? Read about the difference between technical and tactical
I would say technical
Rotary? If he is matching skis at the bottom of the turn, then rotary skill are in play. So you can further develop that skill by working on inside leg steering.
Pressure? Adding flexion and extension will help him let go of the old turn and move into the new one creating an earlier match.
Edging? If he can learn to flatten the inside ski, then he can use his rotary skis to steer it to a match.
What parts of the body are we going to move?
Balance? Ankles

- Let the student know why we’re doing what we’re doing
- Give one direction at a time
- Not remind them school by droning on and on
- Show and tell each aspect of the lesson
- Teach a lesson related to sports, video games, movies, laser tag, wii, legos or something similar
- Use visualization, at twelve he may think games are kid’s stuff
Gameplan
Introduce - If you’re doing pressure, choose an activity encourages flexing and extending movements.
Develop – Now, further develop those flexing and extending movements by having your students move in the direction of the new turn.
Bring it back – Before you finish show you can use these movements in your regular skiing
Include lots of task-related feedback along the way.
