Skiing the bumps
Pressing on the gas pedal
A lot of people get the back seat and accelerate in the bumps. To prevent this, as you come over the top of the bump, press your toes down like your pressing on the gas pedals, pick your heels up slightly towards your but and keep your skis in contact with the snow for better control.
Being short and tall
Traversing is a great way to practice getting short and tall, keeping in contact with the skis.
Narrow up the stance
In the bumps we want a narrower stance so both skis can go to the same place, at the same time.
Pole planting in the bumps
Three things to remember when planting your pole.
1. Keep a good rhythm
Short turns on groomed slopes are a great way to practice rhythm. Walk your poles down the hill, “one, two, one, two.”
2. Know where to plant it
Plant your pole somewhere on the top of the bump or the downhill side of the bump.
3. Drive over the top for good hand position
Once you’ve planted your pole, drive over the top to maintain strong hand position.
